Rock Island Lines Adlake Kero 250 Lantern w/ Clear Cast "Rock Island Lines" Corning Short Globe
A very nice Rock Island Lines railroad lantern in very good condition! The frame stands 9 1/4" tall without the bail. It is in excellent condition with lots of tin and solid metal with original patina. Someone has clear coated the frame to keep the patina, but it can easily be removed to return it to its natural state. The Rock Island shield logo is embossed on the top of the lid, with "Adlake Kero 250, The Adams & Westlake Company, New York, Chicago & Phila.", and the last embossed patent date of "1923". The 3 1/4" tall clear globe is cast "RI Lines" on one side with the Corning "Cnx" logo above that, and "Adlake Kero" on the other side. Cast Rock Island Lines globe are hard to find. The globe is in good condition with some very old inside rim chipping on the top and bottom rims that can not be seen when in the frame. The lantern comes with the correct Adlake #250 fount & burner that is in excellent condition and will still hold oil and burn. A very fine Midwest railroad piece from the Rock Island Lines....A mighty fine line ready for your collection!
