1850’s-1860’s Flax Spinning Wheel
This very quaint spinning wheel is a recent estate acquisition. It wears its age well. The spinning wheel is oak and mixed woods, with turned legs and attachments. There are original (and a little faded) tole painted rings on the legs spindles, and wheel supports. The spinning wheel has its original “mother of all” and parts. The center foot rest is an older replacement. The leather foot-to-wheel strap is a newer replacement. The finish is original and has just been cleaned. The spinning wheel dimensions are; 45 ¾” tall to the top of the flax staff, 11 ½” wide at the base of the mother-of-all support, and 34” long from the edge of the wheel to the turned handle on the opposite end. The wheel is 19 ½” in diameter. A beautiful piece, ready to decorate your fireside!
