
1890's Oak Waterbury Octagon Drop School House Regulator Clock
This is a very nice oak schoolhouse time and strike regulator clock in room-ready condition. This style clock was a normal fixture in many small school houses. Valued for their dependability and accuracy, they were used for service many years. This octagon shaped regulator has a "drop" lower door that houses the pendulum. It was manufactured by, The Waterbury Clock Company, of Waterbury, Connecticut, in the 1890's. The clock is dark golden oak, with pressed oval medallion designed trim, and is in excellent all over condition. The finish is original and in great shape. The lower door is reverse painted with word "Regulator" in gilt. The face of the clock is original, and is marked "Waterbury Clock Co., U.S.A." There is light surface wear from age, but no serious stains or marks. The pendulum and key are original. The clock has its original instructions glued on the back of the case. The instructions are still readable. The bezel is an old replacement. The clock works are stamped "Waterbury Clock Co., U.S.A." The clock has just been serviced professionally, and has 2 new bushings and verge, and has been cleaned and oiled. The school house regulator is a "time and strike" clock, chiming on the hour and half hour. The dimensions of this clock are; 14" wide x 22 ½" long x 4 1/8" deep.
