CRI&PRR "Rock Island Lines" 1897 A&W CE Lantern
(Item: JV10250)
CRI&PRR "Rock Island Lines" 1897 A&W CE Lantern
Here is a very nice Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific Railroad lantern that you can proudly display. The 1897 Adams & Westlake Company frame is one of the harder to find lanterns from the Rock Island Railroad. Most of the lanterns are either marked "Rock Island Lines" or "Rock Island System". This one is embossed on the top lid "C.R.I & P.R.R., The Adams, Adams & Westlake Company, Chicago" with the last patent date being Nov. 30, 1897. There is some minor surface roughness or light pitting on the top lid from years of use (see pictures). There are some rust holes near the bottom of the frame on the side where the drop down pot attaches. The frame stands 10 1/2" tall. The lantern comes with the correct A&W fount, but will not hold oil because of the pin holes on the side of the fount (see pictures). This lantern is complete and will still display nicely. It comes with the correct 5 1/2" tall clear etched "CRI&PRR" extended base globe in very good condition. There is one flat inside rim chip on the bottom of the globe, but this will not be seen when in the frame. If you have been looking for this style of frame from the Rock Island System to add to your collection, here is your chance!
