1885 Adams & Westlake Brass Interior Railroad Coach Wall Light
A beautiful railroadiana piece not often seen today. This is an interior coach light, manufactured by Adams & Westlake Co. for the railroad. This brass kerosene wall lamp features an ornate brass mounting bracket. The oval manufacturers plate on the bracket reads; "The A&W Co., patented June 14, '70, June 9, '74, and Nov. 17, '85." The brass fuel container is enclosed in the base, with a Plume & Atwood MFG. Co. marked burner. The milk glass shade is original to the lamp, and fits into the upper bracket of the lamp, secured by a brass band which tightens to hold it in place. There are two small rim chipson the top rim where it sits in the frame. They are very minor and can not be seen when the shade is in place, but they must be mentioned for accuracy. The brass lamp has been lightly hand polished. The rim of the fount holder has two minor spots where it is slightly bent up. The original chimney was broken, so it has been replaced by a modern one. The interior lamp is 17 3/8" Tall and 10" Wide. The milk glass shade is 6" in diameter. This is a very attractive lamp, and will display well almost anywhere!
