1887 Ornate Brass Railroad Double Interior Ceiling Coach lamp
A spectacular reminder of the hey day of serious railroad travel. this ornate brass ceiling interior coach lamp was manufactured May 31, 1887. This patent date appears on the smoke bell housing. The large coach lamp is mounted on a rounded wood base with a brass embossed and scrolled band encircling the outside edge. All of the rods, and smoke bell housings are attached to the wood. the brass is slightly darkened from age. We have not polished it. The ribbed glass shades are original to the lamp, and are both embossed, " Welsbach Holophane" in block lettering in between the glass ribs on the top rims. the founts are marked " A&W Co., Chicago", the burners are marked Plume & Atwood Mfg. Co. ,and the chimneys are marked Pyrex. One burner is slightly different than its mate, but the chimneys both fit properly. Dimensions of this hard to find and very elegant lamp are; 24" long, 12 1/4" wide, 24 1/2" tall, and the shades are 8 1/2" in diameter. If you're one of those lucky collecters who have plenty of space to display your railroadiana collection, or if you own a coach or parlor railroad car, this could be the crowning touch!
