1890's Oak Dental Cabinet w/34 Drawers & 2 Leaded Glass Doors
A very special acquisition we are proud to offer. This is a solid dark oak dental cabinet, circa 1890 to 1900. It has three sections, all attached to one very large oak back piece. It is a very heavy dental cabinet. It has a working locking metal mechanism for all of the drawers. When the center lower drawer with the lock is snapped all the way shut, it pushes the mechanism up and locks down the other drawers. It works smoothly. There is a lock on the drawer, but no key, although one can be made for it. There are 34 small drawers, 3 doors (the upper two doors have leaded glass panels), and one bin. There are small glass hexagon shaped knobs with flower centers on the drawers and doors. The lower section has eight knobs that have replaced because the old knobs were broken off at one time. The replacements are almost an exact match to the old knobs. The small drawers have bird's eye maple veneer bottoms. Two of the drawer bottoms have been replaced, because the old ones were missing. Some have sections and dividers for all manner of dental tools and related items. The bin, located on the bottom left side of the cabinet, is metal, painted ivory, with an oak front panel. A lot of the paint on the bin is chipped and faded. The two upper leaded glass doors are original, no cracks. The upper section features a rectangular bevelled mirror. It is original, and has a few age steaks. The finish is in excellent condition. Most of the finish is original, just cleaned. The three flat top surfaces have been refinished to match the original finish on the rest of the cabinet. The bun feet of the cabinet have been replaced to match the original feet, and are quarter sawn oak. Dimensions of this great early dental cabinet are; 60" tall (5' ft.), 42 1/8" wide, and 17 5/8" deep. This is a spectacular piece, certainly a conversation starter, deserving of a special place in your collection!
