1880's Milk Glass Oil Lamp w/Handpainted Fount & Original Wheel Cut Globe
This lovely oil lamp would be attractive in any setting! This 1885 period milk glass lamp has a handpainted fount, with a Hobbs style brass connector for the fount & base. The brass collar is an unmarked Taplin-Brown. The lamp was electrified many years ago with a prong style burner and shade holder. It is possible this burner/shade holder was original to the lamp and was modified for electricity. The wheel cut ball style shade fits the shade holder exactly, no slop. There are 2 tiny flakes of glass attached to the globe, in one spot probably from the factory. They are very minor and hard to see, but must be mentioned for accuracy. The chimney is an older replacement. The lamp has one tiny 1/4" base flake (see photo). Dimensions of the lamp are; 20 1/2" tall and 5" in diameter at the base. The globe is 6" tall, and 7" in diameter. This is a special lamp, looking for an even more special home!
