Early 1900's Solid Oak 48" Round Empire Revival Table w/6 Leaves
This beautiful table is called a threshing table in the midwest, due to the fact that this style was used for large farm hand dinners during harvest. It was manufactured by the Excel Manufacturing Company, Rockford, Illinois. There is a manufacturer's label on the leaf "suitcase", or storage case. Which houses the 6-11" wide leaves. One leaf has a slight warp on one end from age. It is not a detraction, but must be mentioned for accuracy. The table top has been refinished to match the original finish on the base. The pedestal is a solid turned pedestal, with rolled empire revival legs. There are metal castors on the feet. The table extends to 114" long (9' 6") with all six leaves in place. There is a mechanism under the table top which raises and lowers the double legs on each end of the table. The legs give the table extra strength when all the leaves are in use, but fold up when the table is at it's 48" round station. This is a fabulous family dinner table, and also perfect for the holiday!
