Thomas Webb Brides Basket w/Ornate Cherub Frame
This is a fabulous and very Victorian brides basket. The bowl is a marked Thomas Webb cased glass with a very deep ruffled edge. The base of the bowl is numbered "1124/1" and "P462" (see picture). The interior of the bowl is custard yellow, the exterior is patterned, shading from pale pink at the base to almost cranberry at the top. The gold enameling is fern fronds that surround the bowl. The bowl is perfect, no chips, cracks, or imperfections. The dimensions of the bowl are 11" in diameter and 4 3/4" tall. The frame is by The Wilcox Silverplate Company, number "2684", quadruple plate (see picture). It is 8 ½" in diameter, and 8 3/4" tall, and features three large winged cherubs (6 3/8" tall) holding a rope garland around the central post. The three cornered base where the bowl rests has a forest scene, with a cherub getting out of a leaf boat holding a little paper that says "for you" (see picture). This is an all together lovely piece that would make a wonderful centerpiece for a table, or a great addition to any art glass collection!
