Victorian 6 Bottle Castor Set w/Enclosed Carousel Frame
A very elegant and harder to find six bottle quadruple plate castor set. This very beautiful and complete set is in excellent condition. The motif is classical Greek, with helmeted soldiers in relief on three sides of the carousel, and a monogrammed "M" on the fourth side. The center handle has a Greek woman in relief on both sides. The Greek key design is repeated on the carousel and base of the castor frame. The six bottles are in a matching etched design, with swirled bases. The bottles are all in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks, or flea bites. The blown stoppers all match, no base chips, but one stopper has a factory flaw where it was brought to a point, a tiny "nub" of glass. One of the silverplate lids on the salt and pepper has a rounded instead of pointed finial. This is not noticeable and does not detract from the beauty of this set. The dimensions of the frame are; 15 3/4" Tall, and 8"in diameter at the widest point. The three tallest castor bottles are 9 1/4" Tall with stoppers, and 2 3/4" in diameter. The next two bottles are 7 3/4" Tall with the lids, and 2 1/4" in diameter. The mustard bottle is 6 ½' Tall, and 2 1/4" in diameter. There is no mustard spoon. There is no manufacturers mark, but there is a "506 dy" etched on the underside of the base. This gorgeous castor set is one you should certainly be proud to display at your next dinner party!
