Amberina Quilted Hanging Parlor Lamp

(Item: 2578)

Spectacular Victorian Amberina Quilted Shade Hanging Parlor Lamp

If you are tired of seeing "run of the mill" hanging Victorian parlor lamps, this one is for you! All parts are complete and original, manufactured by the E.M. Miller Company. The patent date of Sept. 11, 1888 is stamped on one of the shade supports. It is all brass, except for the font, which is brass and copper.....unusual and very attractive! (see close-up picture) The supporting arms are winged griffins, facing the font. The brass filler cap is marked "Miller." The winding mechanism is present and in working condition. There is also a brass smoke bell and the brass crown matches the shade ring. There are 29 crystal prisms. The 14" amberina quilted shade is just beautiful, with the quilted pattern on the interior of the shade. The color graduates from amber to ruby top to bottom. (see pictures) As you might know, amberina art glass was produced by a special double firing technique, harder to achieve, but very attractive. It produces a fabulous pattern on the ceiling at night! The lamp was electrified some time ago. You would need a flame spreader and some minor soldering to convert it back to oil. The shade has a couple of factory air bubbles in the glass on the inside, not noticeable, but are there. (see picture) One is tiny, ½" by 1/8", and one is 1 3/4" long and 1/8" wide, in the glass. There is one minute 1/8" flea bite on the smooth lower rim of the shade, but it is in exceptional condition for its age! The dimensions of the lamp frame as shown in picture are: 36" long and 18 ½" wide. This absolutely gorgeous lamp would be perfect over your dining table, or in your formal parlor!

Please be patient for fifteen larger pictures to download.....it's well worth the time!
