Vict. Double Enamelled Perfume Castor

(Item: 2341)

Sorry, This Item Is SOLD!!!

Rogers, Smith & Company Victorian Double Enameled Perfume Castor with Pin Box

This unique and elegant Victorian perfume castor features two tall blown glass perfume bottles in a swirl pattern, with ruffled matching glass stoppers. The two bottles are both in near mint condition, with two or three bubbles in the glass, but no chips, cracks, or flea bites. The hand enameling is of pansies, with small clusters of dots covering the body of the bottles. We are unsure of the age of the enamelling, but the bottles and the frame are old. The stoppers have matching designs. The pontils on the bases of the bottles are slightly rough to the touch. The quadruple plate castor was manufactured by the Roger, Smith & Company, Meriden, Connecticut and marked "96." It is very elaborate, with four feet in a floral pattern. The base also has a floral motif, with filigree at the sides and top of the handle. The center is a covered pin box. It has been re-silvered. The two bottles are 10 1/4" tall and 3 ½" in diameter with the stoppers. The frame is 12 3/4" tall and 11 1/4" wide. Overall height of the castor with the bottles in place is 13 ½". This is an exceptionally beautiful and hard to find set,. . . wouldn't it be lovely on your vanity?
