Dated 1857 Boston Rocker in Excellent Original Condition
It would be nice if we could all look as good at 145 years old as this rocker! This high back rocker has a curved pillow back, with curved center slat and brace, sloping arms, and "rug cutter" legs. That means the legs are slotted to accomodate the runners, which are thin and tall. The seat is rolled and has a carved out edge. Most of the rocker is put together with swuare nails. The finish is between red-brown and black, with faded outlines of stenciling on the top and back cross brace. The bottom of the seat has "1857" carved in it, as well as "JR CARR" stamped in the center. Dimensions are: 43 ½" tall, 20" wide, and the runners are 30" long. It is still very sturdy and useful, and in an early American or shaker style setting it will look phenomenal.
