Victorian Meriden Britannia Double Cranberry Inverted Thumbprint Pickle Castor
In the heyday of the pickle castor, this little cutie was probably a much enjoyed wedding gift. The Meriden Britannia frame
is marked under the left side (see picture), and is in excellent condition. It sits on four scrolled feet, and has flowers etched
on the front of the base. The "Best Wishes" upper portion of the frame extends out over the jars. The lids have small knobs,
and match. The lids fit the inserts perfectly, no movement, and the jars sit just right in the frame. The peanut shaped inserts
are matching cranberry inverted thumbprint. One has a tiny flat interior rim flake, and the other has a few very tiny
interior rim flea bites, otherwise they are in excellent condition. The three tine pickle fork that hangs in the center of the
frame has a perfect matching daisy type flower, simple but elegant. The fork was made by Reed & Barton. The dimensions
of the frame of this extremely attractive castor set are; 8" wide, 4 ½" deep, and 8 7/8" tall, and the inserts are; 4"in diameter, and
4 ½" tall. This gorgeous pickle castor set would be the highlight of any castor collection,......why not yours!
