Clear Pickle Castor w/Puppy Dog Lid

(Item: 1805)

Sorry, This item Is SOLD!!!

Victorian Puppy- Motif Pickle Castor

The original owner of this Victorian pickle castor must have had a penchant for pug dogs! This is a very nice pickle castor in original condition. It has no repairs and has not been re-plated. The dimensions of the castor frame are: 10 3/4" tall by 4 7/8" wide, and the insert is 4 1/4" tall by 3 ½" in diameter. The frame is topped by a shell shaped crest, and the base design is of scrolling with tiny flowers, women reclining holding birds, and birds flying. The lid has matching tiny flowers, scroll work, and the finial is a begging pug dog- very cute! The top rim of the insert has a tiny rim flake (so small, you really can't see it). The insert is clear pressed glass in a zipper pattern. The hanging pickle fork is a Rogers 1881 pattern fork. This unique pickle castor would be a fine and attractive one for you table or buffet!
