Victorian Clear Double Pickle Castor w/Viking Heads Feet, & Stork Lids
A very striking and exceptionally nice double pickle castor. It was manufactured by E.G. Webster & Brother and is numbered "38." It has eight feet in the shape of Viking heads, and the lids are storks feeding. The jars are nice and heavy, thick glass, with bands of matching etched flowers and ferns, The jars are nearly mint, no chips, cracks, with only one nearly invisible flea bite on one rim. The inserts fit the frame perfectly, and the lids fit the inserts just as well. The frame has been re-silvered. The pickle fork is 1847 Rogers Brothers with a twist handle. The dimensions of the castor frame are: 8 1/4" long, 3 5/8" wide, and 10 1/8" tall. The inserts are 3 1/2" in diameter and 4 3/16" tall. You'll have to hunt pretty far to find another double pickle castor as nice as this one, so why not add it to your collection?!
