1960's Remco QX-2 Walkie Talkie Set

(Item: 3291J)

1960's Remco QX-2 Electronic Walkie Talkie Set Mint in Box

Space toys were extremely popular in the 1960's, due to the advent of astronauts and sci-fi T.V. shows. This great walkie talkie set in the original dealer display box looks like it was a fun toy in its day! The box is in black & yellow, with red accents, and the back flips up to display the walkie talkie set. A Buck Rogers type space man is the central design. The box contains 2 walkie talkies in metallic blue plastic, with red earpiece and button, and a yellow strap. The patent number on the backs of the handsets is "25536179." There is also a coil of black and white electrical wire, and a spaceship-shaped cadet award. They are "Sound Powered". That's what the wire is for. The sound of your voice, or, sound, vibrates a cone attached to a rod, attached to a "reed" located between magnets and a coil which in turn produces a tiny bit of electricity. The electricity travels down the wire to the other radio where the same arrangement turns the electricity into sound again. These require, no batteries or power of any kind. EXTREMELY RARE. The box is in excellent condition, with minor edge wear, no rips, tears, or water marks. The set looks never used. The dimensions of the box are: 12 1/4" by 8 3/4", and the headsets are: 5 1/2" long with antenna, and 2 1/4" wide. Re-live your childhood with a toy your mom probably wouldn't let you have!
