Weeden Steam Powered Toy Locomotive
This company certainly paid attention to detail in their toys! Weeden manufactured steam powered toys from the beginning of the 1900's to 1930. This little chain driven locomotive is in excellent condition for its age. All parts appear complete and original to the engine. The only repair we can see is where the boiler attaches to the front wheel, someone welded the two parts together where originally two screws attached the pieces. The fuel went in the reservoir at the bottom, water went in the boiler, and when the three wicks were lit at the bottom it would actually "chug" along! This toy must have required a lot of parental guidance! The dimensions of the locomotive are; 7" long, 3 ½" wide, and & 1/4" tall to the top of the smoke stack. The Weeden name is embossed on the side of the locomotive. The paint is original. It has not been cleaned or touched up.
