Victorian Rocking Horse & Pull Toy
This is an exceptional example of an early child's rocking horse. This wonderful piece would fit right in a museum! It is in all original condition, with no recent repairs or re-painting. The horse has a brown burlap body, with real black horse hair mane and tail. It has its original bridle, saddle, and plaid saddle blanket. It has brown glass eyes and wooden muzzle and hooves. The ears are leather (one is bent over). There are four or five spots where the burlap has been mended carefully with brown matching yarn. These repairs are old, and only add to the character of the horse. The large rocking base is mustard yellow with red trim, and the pull base the horse rests on attaches to it. It can separate to become a pull toy. The dimensions of the rocking horse are: 45 3/4" long, 34 1/4" tall, and 16 3/4" wide with the horse on the rocking base. The only thing that appears to be missing are the stirrups, which were probably removed or lost. This is a fabulous piece for the collector of early Americana, or children's toys, and would be right at home by your fireplace!
