1870's - 80's Victorian Burled Walnut Commode w/ Marble Top & T Handles
Commodes seem to be very popular these days, and many are put into use as bedside tables, foyer pieces, . . . you name it. This very pretty walnut commode has a black veined marble top, all original hardware with exceptional Eastlake style T-drop handles, a solid walnut back splash, and hand dovetailed drawers. There is one large top drawer, 2 side drawers, and a door for the chamber pot. The corners are reeded with spoon carving and walnut burl highlights the drawers. The finish is a warm lighter walnut tone; the piece is all solid walnut. There are 4 porcelain casters and a slide-out side towel bar on the right side. The marble has 2 minor flaws, a 4" and a 6" surface hairlines at the back of the marble top. They do not go through the marble and are scarcely noticeable. Dimensions of the commode are: 29 1/4" tall to the marble top, overall height with the backs plash is 37 3/4". It is 30" wide and 16" deep. A beautiful and earlier Eastlake style piece - room ready!
