1929 Buddy L Industrial 6 pc. Train Set & Track

(Item: 3565J)

1929 Buddy L Pressed Steel Industrial 6 Pc. Train Set & Track

This all original Buddy L Industrial train is the perfect addition to several types of collections....Buddy L, railroad, or early toys! It is from 1929. Buddy L toys were first produced in 1921. The business was started by Fred Lundahl, founder of Moline Pressed Steel Co., who first designed toys for his son, Buddy. The set has not been cleaned or repainted. The finish is worn and scratched with some edge chipping to the paint. There are a few minor dings and dents to some edges due to usage. All of the labels are intact and readable; they say, "The Buddy 'L' Line, patent applied for, Quality Toys, Built by Moline Pressed Steel Co., East Moline, Ill." Buddy L toys are highly collectible these days and not easy to find. The set includes the diesel switch engine, gondola, grain car, hopper car, two flat cars, and 12 pieces of track. The diesel engine is dark green, and the cars are red. The only labels not complete are on either side of the engine cab. They are partially present. The dimensions of the set are as follows: track pieces - each are 16 1/2" long and 3 3/4" wide, which makes a round 62 1/2" in diameter circle; engine - 6 1/2" tall and 9 1/2" long; flat cars - 7 1/2" long and 3 1/8" tall; hopper car - 7 1/2" long and 5 1/2" tall; grain car - 7 1/2" long and 4" tall. This is a very special and unique set, deserving of a spot in your collection!
