Victorian Four Bottle Kings Crown Pattern Castor Set, made by Wilcox Silverplate Co.
This lovely little castor set dates from the early years of the Wilcox Silverplate Company, before they became International Silver Co., between 1869 and 1898. The stamp is one of the earliest ones and is on the underside of the frame. The quadruple plate frame is in excellent condition, with a tiny flower and leaf pattern around the rim. The four castor bottles are Kings Crown pattern, and are original to the frame and are in excellent condition. The salt and pepper lids are worn and have original patina from use. There are some tiny edge breaks around the screw top edges from use. The oil/vinegar bottle has a stopper that fits well and looks original to the bottle. The frame is a very petite 14 1/2" tall, and is 6 3/4" in diameter. The bottles are respectively: salt & pepper - 5" tall; oil & vinegar - 6 3/4" tall; and mayonnaise/mustard - 5 1/4" tall. All bottles are 2 3/4" in diameter and are a pressed zig-zag and circle motif. Extremely attractive and ready for display - or use!
