Fairbanks Fairy Soap "Christmas Fairy" Store Display Box

A very attractive and desirable general store display box manufactured by The N. K. Fairbanks Company. These wooden display boxes were used to ship and display soap for the company in general stores. The boxes were very eagerly sought after by people to decorate and use in their own homes. They are very collectible even today. This particular "Fairy Soap Box" is the beautiful Christmas Fairy. The box is in very good and original condition. The chromolithograph shows a few age and water spots, and two lines near the right side of the fairy that are age splits in the paper. There is a little edge bubbling at the bottom of the paper. The color is good. At the base of the chromolithograph on the left is printed "Copyright 1898, The N. K. Fairbanks Company". The exterior of the box is black oilcloth. It is in overall very good condition, with some wear to edges and around the base, and inside the left top edge of the lid. There is one age split in the lid top. The hinges, lid support, and latch are all brass and in original condition. There is no key. The paper interior in marginal condition, with water spots, wear, and some missing paper. We like as much originality as possible, but the paper can easily be removed and/or replaced if desired. Dimensions of the box are; 8 3/8" tall when closed, 16 1/8" wide, and 16 3/4" deep. This lovely Fairbanks Fairy Soap display box makes an excellent showcase for special collections, such as dolls, teddy bears, lace or any of your own unique collectibles!
