
1915 Western Electric Railroad Scissor Dispatch Phone w/ Oak Ringer Box
This is an excellent quality railroad scissor dispatch phone. This phone was manufactured by Western Electric Company. Labels appear on the ringer box, ear piece, and hand set. The patent date "May 11, 1909" appears on the scissor portion, and the patent date "January 26, 1915" appears on the brass hand set. The phone is in very good condition. The hand set is polished brass. The ringer box is golden oak. Brass plates for "East", "West", "Dispatch", and "Pull Switch When Through Using", are mounted on the front with brass brads. There are three holes on the lower right corner of the ringer box where we feel a switch was placed. Not there when we purchased the phone. The ringer crank is present. All of the original internal parts are present and in good condition. Dimensions of the box are; 8"wide, 9" tall, and 5 7/8" deep. Dimensions of the scissor portion and phone are: Phone 13 ½" tall, and fully extended, the scissor portion is 25" long. All cords are in original used condition, with the headset cord somewhat frayed in five small spots (see pictures). This is a great railroad dispatch phone, ready to display in your railroad corner!
