Signed Pairpoint Table Lamp w/20" Reverse Painted Shade
Made and signed by the Pairpoint Manufacturing Co. of New Bedford, Mass. #D3017 (see pictures). The silver plated base is embellished by rich floral swags. The reverse painted, 20-inch Carlisle shade (the largest Pairpoint made) has a Corot scenic design (Jean Baptist Camille, French 1796-1875). If you look closely at the scenes on the shade (pictures 3, 4 & 5), you will notice that you are viewing the same city, lake, and trees from different angles...very unique! The Pairpoint Manufacturing Co. organized in 1880, primarily the maker of metal objects, primarily coffin fittings. Over the years the Pairpoint firm reorganized, and combined with Mt. Washington Glass Works in 1894, and made a number of elegant lamps. The firm is still in production. Measures: 22 1/2" tall. This lamp is in near mint condition. There are a few spots on the upper branches of the large trees that have a tiny amount of flaking in the paint, and a couple of spots at the base of one tree. They are not scratches and are very minor (see pictures). We have always used low wattage light bulbs. There are no chips or cracks in the shade. Wouldn't this lovely & rare lamp be beautiful in your home?!
