Early 1900's Oak Rolled Arm Rocking Chair
The only word for this rocking chair is quaint! The rocking chair was manufactured by J. S. Ford, Johnson & Co., Chicago Illinois. The partial label is still under the seat. The rocker is dark, reddish brown finished oak, which is original. The curved splat back and top crest are stenciled with flowers and gold striping. We believe the stenciling was highlighted with additional flowers at a later date. It was well done and very attractive. The chair has nice wide rolled arms with three spindles under each arm. The front third of the seat was covered with thick old leather, probably for comfort. The rocker has been re-glued and is extremely sturdy & comfortable. The leather is a fun and unique look for the chair. Dimensions of this nice man- size rocking chair are; 39 1/2" tall, 23 1/4" wide, 20" deep seating area. A very nice fireside rocking chair for reading & relaxing!
