Canadian FRS Bordua Hardwood Spinning Wheel
A very lovely old hardwood spinning wheel, made in Quebec, Canada. It is in very good condition, and has turned spindles, legs, and supports. The mother-of-all is present. The treadle is attractive curved iron, and the support for the mother-of-all is iron, embossed "FB" on the top. The marks; "FRS. Bordua, St. Charles R.C." appears impressed in three places on the base. The makers of this spinning wheel were a well-known Canadian family. The two brothers, Francois and Frederic, and Frederic's son Theodore, were builders of this style of Canadian Production wheel (CPW) in the late 1800's and early 1900's. These were made in Quebec, Canada (Ste Hyacinthe, Ste Marc, Ste Charles). Dimensions of the spinning wheel are; 30" diameter wheel, overall height is 45 1/2", and 48" from the end to end. The spinning wheel is in excellent condition, and has all original parts. We have been provided with extra information on this wheel, and are happy to share it with you.This very quaint spinning wheel needs a new home... possibly by your fireplace!
