1850's Georgian Period Rosewood Gaming Table
(Item: 1742C)
1850's Georgian Period Rosewood Gaming Table
An elegant period piece not often seen today. This very beautiful
game table is rosewood and rosewood veneer. The rectangular fold-over
top has rounded corners above a conforming apron centered by a raised
panel. It is raised on a center pedestal with a rosewood base collar.
The column rests on a long quadripartite platform base, raised on
carved scroll feet. The finish is original, the green felt has been
replaced on the playing suface. The table top turns 90 degrees to
reveal a storage compartment for cards and game pieces. The veneer is
in very good condition for the age of the game table, with one
professional 3 1/2" x 1/2" repair on the back right edge of the table
top(see photo). The veneer is worn on the edges of the platform above
the feet from years of use. The dimensions of this fine piece are; 35
7/8" long, and 17 3/4' wide when closed, 35 1/2" x 35 7/8" when open,
and 28 5/8" tall. The apron is 4 1/8" wide. A stunning piece to
showcase in your parlor or foyer!
