This is an extremely nice piece from the Colorado & Southern Railway. One that is getting harder to find. The lantern frame has lots of tin and excellent metal, and has been cleaned of oil & dirt, then hand polished with a cotton cloth. It is embossed on the on the top lid " C&SRy, The Adams & Westlake Co., New York, Chicago, Phila., Adlake Reliable" with the last patent date being April 1, 1913. The lantern comes with a clear etched 5 3/8" tall melon globe that is in excellent condition. The bottom rim of the globe has two very small rim chips or flakes that can not be seen when in the frame (see picture #6). The top rim is perfect. A very nice old globe! The lantern comes with the correct Adlake fount and burner, which will still hold oil and burn. The globe retainer does have some light surface rust on the inside, but will not be seen when the lid is closed (see picture #4). The lantern stands 10 ½" tall without the bail. This is an impressive Colorado railroad piece that is sure to brighten up any collection,...why not yours!
