AT&SFRy (Santa Fe) Railway Mimbreno Chocolate Pot w/ Lid
This individual chocolate pot is an attractive reminder of the glory days of the railroad. The chocolate pot is in the "Mimbreno" pattern, the white version. It was manufactured by the Syracuse China Company. It has the full bottom stamp : "Syracuse China, Made Expressly For Santa Fe Dining Car Service", with the date code "98-L", (1969 issue). The chocolate pot and matching lid are in excellent condition, no chips, flakes, or flea bites, just one very small factory glaze flaw in the transfer border at the base near the handle (see photo). Very minor, but must be mentioned for accuracy. The chocolate pot is 5 tall with the lid on, and 3 in diameter at the base. Mimbreno railroad china was used on the Santa Fe Super Chief from 1937 to 1971. It was designed by Mary Elizabeth Jane Colter, a Harvey System employee. She was given the commission to design china based on the concept of the Membres Indians. Her resultant designs are widely collected to this day. A very sweet piece to add to your railroad china collection!
